Each individual session is tailor-made to suit your exact needs
The Alexander Technique is taught one-to-one.
The sessions are safe and gentle. People find them enjoyable and informative and sometimes surprising. Each session lasts about 40 minutes.
I work through gentle guidance from my hands and the spoken word.
I work with you on everyday movements and positions so that you experience comfort, freedom and lightness.
These movements include sitting, standing, walking and bending.
After a few sessions you will be able to start applying the Alexander Technique on your own – the Technique is designed for self-help. As your overall state improves, many specific pains and discomfort will start to disappear.
Sessions are tailored to your individual interests and needs. You may wish to include an activity like running, a golf swing, computer use, a yoga posture or how to push a supermarket trolley without pain.
It is best to wear loose comfortable clothing and be prepared to remove your shoes.
How many sessions?
The Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique suggests a basic course of 20-30 sessions.
In my experience, some people can gain a lot of benefit after 6 sessions.
Like music and driving lessons, the rate at which you learn can vary considerably.
I will be able to give you a clearer idea after your introductory session.
Refresher sessions are needed occasionally to maintain the benefits.
Workshops
I also offer workshops to local clubs, societies and colleges as an introduction to the Technique.
