Northstar was established in 2000 and has been dedicated to web design and development, taking a special interest in the growth of online marketing and search engine optimisation which is taking such an increasingly important role in every businesses marketing agenda.
Web design - To keep costs to a minimum, only one design was proposed for the website. It needed to be clean, simple and professional.
We used an elastic layout, which means that the site automatically scales in size to fit the viewer's browser window.
Stock photography was used from one of the world's leading libraries istockphoto - where images can be bought, complete with usage license for a few dollars each. Additional photography was supplied by the client, cropped, and optimised to reduce the file size - making download times as fast as possible, without compromising quality.
Valid markup - The site was developed to W3C international standards for accessibility and valid markup XHTML 1.1 and CSS 2.1. It also complies with the Web Accessibility Initiative, independently tested and approved to Triple A standard. This is also in compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act.
Compatibility - The site was build using the latest up-to-date technology, so that what has been built today will be compatible with browsers for many years to come.
Cross browser support - It was tested on a PC using Internet Explorer (IE) 6, IE 7, IE 8, Google Chrome, Opera and Firefox. It was tested on a Mac using Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera. In all cases the code and markup rendered exactly the same. So what you see, everyone will be seeing.
